All around the world camps, seminars,
weekends, workshops and other events are being held that help people to get
involved with Missions. Many Christians all over the globe have been blessed
and helped through these services. Most of these events have a strong emphasis
on “Missions” in its traditional meaning. “Going” is what it’s all about, often
presented as the perfect submission to the will of God; the highest obedience.
What are we talking about when we say “missions”? Is it really something one
can “do”? I am radically convinced that the church needs to see redemption in
this area and “take back what he (the enemy) took from us”, which is our
identity!
The vision
To take people out of their workplaces,
schools, homes, businesses and send them back with a
whole new perspective on life: the missions perspective - "I'm on a
mission". The majority of God’s people are in positions that they would
not refer to as a "mission field". Yet, Jesus said that the field is the
world. So, whether people like it or not, they're in the field and they
need help looking at it from this perspective: God’s perspective.
The
perspective
Participants are helped to
start thinking beyond where they are at in life; asking themselves how they can
serve God best according to their gifts, passions and skills. Newly gained
insight and knowledge concerning their gifts, personality profile, the will of
God and a sense of calling will result in a new paradigm; a new perspective and
experience that missions is not something one does but something one is.
